BACK TO SCHOOL SHABBAT-AUGUST 29th
For 3,000 years, our people have valued "learning" as a sacred act. The great 20th Century Jewish scholar Louis Finkelstein taught that "When I pray, I speak to God; when I learn, God speaks to me." Regardless of the subject matter, learning is the portal through which we appreciate God's blessing and can celebrate the wonder of creation.
Together with our children, let's mark the start of another school year by giving them our collective love and blessings at the August 29th Shabbat morning service.
But first, let's engage them in a Mitzvah. The children of Agudas Achim are invited to drop-off basic school supplies (pens, pencils, erasers, notebooks, back backs, etc.) to the Synagogue atrium between now and August 31. These supplies will be distributed to area charities that assist kids from families struggling with financial hardship.
Moms, Dads and most especially students who starting school in the coming days, please join for this special Back to School Shabbat celebration!
August 29th, 9 AM - noon

The High Holidays are just around the corner. Everyone is excited about our incredibly warm and dynamic new Rabbi, Melissa Crespy. Let's share the excitement and the start of this new journey with others!
Please remind people who are unsure of what synagogue to go to this year that Agudas Achim still does not require membership or tickets to participate in our beautiful services.
The synagogue office will be happy to send out personalized invitations to unaffiliated members of the Jewish community. Call our office with their names and addresses, 237-2747.
