The Agudas Achim Academy is a quality religious school in Columbus where Hebrew instruction is fully integrated with a curriculum that promotes Jewish principles and practice.

The Agudas Achim Academy seeks to be:

— a Beit Midrash, a community of learners, where God speaks to us through the primary text of our tradition.

— a Beit Tefillah, a community of worshipers, where we joyfully celebrate our relationship with G-d through the traditional liturgy and devotion to the mitzvot (commandments) in a welcoming and inclusive environment that is firmly grounded in Torah and Halachah.

— and, a Beit Knesset, a loving and caring community – a beacon of light to Klal Yisrael – where, as Ohavei Habriyot (people who seek out the image of God contained within each human being), we stand for social justice & righteousness and strive to spread acts of Kiddush Hashem throughout the world.

Additional Information

Kehillat Shabbat

As an extension of our weekday educational program, Kehillat Shabbat (Jr. Cong.) meets each Shabbat (preceding Sundays when school is in session) at 10:30 am until the end of the Musaf service, when students join the main sanctuary. Kehillat Shabbat consists of an abridged Shabbat service including Shacharit, Torah reading and a d’var Torah. Students will be encouraged to help lead the service and parts will be assigned ahead of time as well as on that morning. In addition, children will enjoy a mini-kiddush and group games prior to joining the rest of the congregation. Towards the end of the musaf service, students will be escorted to sit as a group with the Kehillat Shabbat leader.

Musical Kabbalat Shabbat

The Musical Kabbalat Shabbat service meets one Friday night per month. Kabbalat Shabbat consists of an abridged Friday night service, including Maariv and L’Cha Dodi. Students will be encouraged to help lead the service, and are invited to bring their own percussion instruments. Kiddush, Motzei and a snack follow the service.

Tot Shabbat

Tot Shabbat is an interactive service for children up to kindergarten age and their parents/grandparents. Kids learn about Judaism through songs, books, prayers and games.

Minyannaires

Minyannaires is an interactive Sunday morning family service (which takes place once a month), presented by the Agudas Achim Academy and Agudas Achim Brotherhood. It is followed by a delicious, hot breakfast prepared and served by Brotherhood volunteers.
